 Tarsus Commodity Exchange Council  President Murat Kaya, Chairman of the Board of Directors Mustafa Teke and delegation from Tarsus Commodity Exchange visited Paris and Brussels for export issues.

Tarsus Commodity Exchange Delegation held contacts on 'Overseas Market' activities in Paris, the capital of France, and Brussels, the capital of Belgium, with Chief Trade Counselor Murat Gören and Trade Counselor Gonca Köksal Ensari in Paris, and Brussels Trade Counselor Mehmet Kayış in Brussels.  At Eurochambres  they had the opportunity to meet with TEBD Project Director Oya Ersöz and TOBB Brussels Representative Haluk Nuray.

These meetings of the Tarsus Commodity Exchange Delegation aimed to successfully implement foreign marketing activities and achieve the targeted results, for companies to obtain information about foreign markets, to conduct business negotiations with potential buyers, to increase their international competition and export potential, and to expand foreign trade to European countries.

Tarsus Commodity Exchange Council President Murat Kaya and  Chairman Mustafa Teke made a joint statement regarding their contacts in Paris, the capital of France, and said, "We evaluated the foreign trade volume of Turkey and France with our Paris Chief Commercial Counselor Murat Gören and Commercial Counselor Gonca Köksal Ensari. We stated that our exports to France in the fresh fruits, vegetables and food sectors, which are approximately 15-16 billion USD, are not at the desired level. When we look at the countries from which France imports fruits and vegetables, Türkiye; It ranks 7th in fruits and 11th in vegetables. Unfortunately; "The leading countries to which France is an importer are its rival country, Spain, and Morocco, Belgium and Italy, respectively," they said.

Giving information about their contacts in Brussels, the capital of Belgium, Murat Kaya and Mustafa Teke said, “We expressed to our Brussels Trade Consultant Mehmet Kayış that the situation is worse in Belgium and the fresh fruit-vegetable and food sector. We wanted to find out why our exports were not at the desired level. When we look at the countries from which Belgium imports fruits and vegetables, Türkiye; It ranks 16th in fruits and 11th in vegetables. We discussed that the countries where it is a net importer are our rival countries, the Netherlands and Spain, and what we can do. “The information he gave us was really valuable,” they said.

Stating that the meeting with EUROCHAMBRES TEBD Project Director Oya Ersöz was productive, Kaya and Teke said, “During this visit, it was specifically requested that Tarsus Commodity Exchange take part in bilateral cooperation with the European Chambers. At the meeting where the physical and technical infrastructures of the Commodity Exchange were presented, we expressed that we would like to take part in projects that can be carried out jointly on behalf of our Commodity Exchange to increase business world dialogues with regional, national, Chambers and Unions.

During the meetings held with TOBB Brussels Representative Haluk Nuray and his team at the TOBB Brussels Representation, which was established to represent TOBB, the roof organization of the Turkish business world, before the European Chambers of Commerce and Industry - Eurochambres and to ensure its active participation in Eurochambres activities; 

Within the framework of lobbying and information activities of our exchange members, we touched upon the issues of ensuring contact, dialogue and coordination with EU institutions and active organizations, and ensuring the flow of information by closely following the developments within the EU. We asked our members to help us use our TOBB representative office as hosts in their bilateral meetings, and they said they would gladly accept. Our detailed report containing the results and suggestions of these contacts will be shared with TOBB and the relevant authorities in the coming days.
